Editor and Publisher
Mike Bondarenko
Mike R. Bondarenko has collected law enforcement insignia since 1980. He founded Police Collectors News in 1982 to give the hobby a reliable source to share news, information and advertising. He has been editor and publisher for 42 years.
Bondarenko is a 38-year full-time law enforcement veteran in Wisconsin. He spent nearly 30 years as a deputy sheriff and investigator for the Saint Croix County Sheriffs Department from 1977 to 2006 when he retired. He became the chief of police in Prescott in Pierce County in 2006 and served the fast-growing community until 2014 when he retired for the second and final time.
Bondarenko has a strong background in print and broadcast journalism, working seven years as news director at two radio stations and a freelance reporter and writer for local newspapers.
In addition to collecting patches and badges from Arizona, Minnesota, Wisconsin and state agencies, his other interests are World War II history, crime novels and spending time with his pet Doberman pinschers, all rescued from shelters.
